The likelihood of enrolling in college. (2017, February)

This research project was designed to identify student-level indicators that could predict a student’s likelihood of enrolling in college within a year of graduating from high school. The sample consisted of the 2013 graduates who were enrolled in the district for at least 75% of each year of high school. Several academic, behavioral, and demographic variables served as predictor variables. The primary analysis took all four years of high school into account to capture the most information about students’ experience and performance leading up to the college decision; however, the evaluator also included a year-by-year analysis. The results of the logistic regression provided the district with profiles of non-college-goers and information decision-makers could use to enact strategies to counteract barriers to college enrollment.
